About the Company
A Series A cloud platform (founded 2020) for modern tech companies: the power of the cloud without the complexity and cost, letting teams run anything, anywhere. Instead of spending time and money managing AWS, Azure, and GCP (and getting locked in), top engineering teams use the platform to instantly create production-grade infrastructure on any cloud provider, deploy application code, and monitor and manage it. The company is Series A funded, profitable, and has grown ARR 8x since 2022, with headquarters in New York and an SF office. It has a flat team with high ownership and works with some of the most exciting YC-backed companies.
The Role
The company is hiring a Design / Micro-Interaction Engineer to own the craft and feel of the platform. You will work directly with the design lead and co-founder on information architecture, core product flows, micro-interactions, and a full rebrand rollout. This is not a handoff role: you design it, you implement it, and you own it.
The company cares about building something beautiful and is not afraid of the hardest problems. The closest reference point for the person they want is Vercel's design engineering team. There is no separate product team: engineers own the full development lifecycle, talk to customers directly, and decide what to build.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design and front-end implementation of core product flows end to end
- Lead the rebrand rollout across the website and the product
- Define the information architecture and design; create and monitor flows for the platform's main objects
- Work directly with the design lead to align on design sense, then go above and beyond it
- Join in-flight work streams, give design feedback, and progressively take on owned projects
- Talk to customers directly and bring product intuition to what gets built
- Work in two-week project cycles with full autonomy to propose and drive your own work
Requirements
- 5+ years of design or micro-interaction engineering experience
- A portfolio is required, showing a strong sense of craft and curiosity (reviewed directly by the design lead)
- Comfortable and excited about implementing designs, not just creating them in Figma
- Deep Figma fluency with fast iteration
- An AI-native approach to design, excited to use AI to move faster without being blocked by engineering
- Low ego and strong collaborative instincts
- A strong communicator who can explain why something is a good idea
- Genuine interest in dev tooling
- Based in or willing to relocate to New York; fully in person 5 days a week
Nice to Have
- Background at Vercel or a similar developer-tooling company with a strong design engineering culture
- Experience with information architecture and complex product systems
- Prior experience shipping micro-interactions in production
Perks
- Meaningful equity
- 30 days of PTO and 30 remote days per year
- Relocation covered
- Paid on-site work trial
