The Force Behind Dinah
In has been nearly two decades since Mariah Hanson produced her first solo Dinah Shore Weekend, bringing national sponsors and big name recording artists into Palm Springs and booking hotels, filling them with lesbians for an amazing series of events that women now look forward to every year. It was a bold concept in 1991,and today, The Dinah is considered to be the largest lesbian event in the world.
But Mariah Hanson is more than a savvy businesswoman and event promoter who throws great parties: She is a woman with a social conscience who cares about creating social change and is known for helping women who are just starting out in business. At one point in her life, she was a bookworm who majored in English and planned to become a teacher, a profession she respects. And although she has met thousands of the most beautiful women in the world at her events, she describes herself as “shy” and is a hopeless romantic, committed to the love of her life.
